Los Angeles Dodgers
2016 saw the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS for the fourth time since 2008 — their fourth consecutive season in the playoffs. While that success hasn’t translated to any World Series trophies since 1988, the Dodgers have certainly had plenty of individually great players in their history — including some of the best pitchers to ever step on the mound in a baseball game. The Sacramento River Cats put together an inning for the history books on Thursday. When you look at the box score, you see a '1' in the second inning and then a '2' in the sixth before you have to blink and make sure your mind isn't playing tricks on you.  Sacramento plated 13 runs in the seventh inning, as a 6-3 deficit turned into a 16-6 lead over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. No Dodger has worn Valenzuela's number since he left the team, and it seems petty to keep it out of circulation without officially bestowing the honor. Continue to Article

Kenta Maeda wished the longest outing of his major league career was just a little longer. Maeda pitched into the ninth inning, Cody Bellinger homered and made a tumbling catch in left field and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 on Wednesday night to complete a three-game sweep. Maeda (3-2) got within two outs of his first career complete game. Continue to Article
