Los Angeles Dodgers
By Steve Keating LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - It will be lights, camera, action with the Los Angeles 2024 Olympic bid in the spotlight when the International Olympic Committee visits Tinseltown this week as the race to host the Summer Games heats up. The IOC's Evaluation Commission will hear a well-worn sales pitch during a three-day visit that will provide a firsthand glimpse at the LA2024 vision. What commission chief Patrick Baumann of Switzerland and his members discover will find its way into a report presented to IOC members who will decide between Los Angeles and Paris as 2024 host when a vote is held in Peru on Sept. 13. LOS ANGELES Dave Roberts did not tell Alex Wood until Sunday that he would be starting Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Maybe Roberts should keep Wood in suspense more often. Wood didn’t allow a hit until the fourth inning of the Dodgers’ 12-1 win. He struck out 11 batters in five shutout innings and left with a 10-0 lead. Chris Taylor and Yasiel Puig hit home runs in front of an announced crowd of 37,314 at Dodger Stadium. Taylor went 3 for 4 with a grand slam, Joc Pederson went 3 for 5, and three other Dodgers had two hits apiece. The Dodgers have won three in a row and eight of 10. Their last four victories have been by a combined final score of 43-10. It helps that the Dodgers Continue to Article

Fresh from an unexpected off day, the San Diego Padres face a strange foe: the Texas Rangers. The Padres' final game of their three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers was rained out on Sunday. San Diego (12-20) is hoping the rain is gone and the black cloud that has been clinging to the Padres also exits once the Rangers arrive. Continue to Article

Los Angeles Dodgers
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres game against the Los Angeles Dodgers has been postponed Sunday due to rain. The Padres stated the prolonged rain showers and possible thunder and lightning throughout the afternoon caused them to make the decision. The game has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 2 at 12:40 p.m. The regularly scheduled game on September 2 against the Dodgers will be pushed from 5:40 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. to better accommodate a double-header. This is the first rainout at Petco Park since Sunday, July 19, 2015, a span of 134 games. Prior to the 2015 rainout, there had been 820 games played at Petco Park since the previous rainout on April 4, 2006. Tickets for Sunday’s game are Continue to Article
