WASHINGTON --  Wizards forward Kelly Oubre says "reoccurring events" of being hit in the head caused the outburst that got him ejected from Thursday's Game 3 win over the Boston Celtics. After being floored by an illegal screen from Celtics big man Kelly Olynyk early in the second quarter, Oubre charged at Olynyk and knocked him to the ground by burying his forearm in his chest. Oubre was assessed a flagrant 2 and ejected. "I've been hit in the head multiple times by the same person," Oubre told reporters after practice Friday. "I've confronted [Olynyk] about it. The last time it happened, I fell, I felt pain in my head and my jaw, and I got up and I ran to him and I bumped him." Oubre said he Continue to Article

Boston Celtics
WASHINGTON --  In Boston’s first-round series with Chicago, the Celtics caught an unexpected break when Rajon Rondo suffered a fractured right thumb in Game 2 and was out the rest of the way. Washington’s Kelly Oubre Jr. won’t be gone nearly as long. He'll miss just one game, a suspension for his hard shove of Kelly Olynyk in the Wizards' resounding Game 3 victory on Thursday. But in a series in which the home team has won every game, not having Oubre Jr. could indeed become one of those little things the Celtics can use to their advantage tonight in Game 4. “The league did what it had to do,” said Jae Crowder, referring to Oubre Jr.’s suspension. “I feel he does help those guys a lot, especially Continue to Article

The Washington Wizards turned up the physicality and turned in another strong start in their Game 3 win over the Boston Celtics Thursday night. Wizards reserve Kelly Oubre Jr. was suspended one game, the NBA announced Saturday, "for charging and making forceful and unwarranted contact" with Celtics center Kelly Olynyk during the second quarter of Washington's 116-89 rout. The Flagrant-2 foul along with eight technical fouls overshadowed a dominant performance by the Wizards on both ends of the court as they cut the Celtics' series lead to 2-1. Continue to Article

Boston Celtics
WASHINGTON – When you’ve been in the NBA long enough, you get a reputation for certain things whether warranted or not.  The Celtics' Kelly Olynyk is a 7-footer who can shoot 3’s, excels at passing out of the post and despite being somewhat athletically awkward-looking at times, is usually in the right place defensively which feeds into the narrative that he’s a solid positional, team defender.   And yet the growing perception of him among opposing players, is that he’s a dirty player.   His critics point to the Kevin Love incident a couple years ago in the playoffs, and most recently the spat between him and Washington’s Kelly Oubre Jr. in Game 3. Oubre Jr. ran up and delivered a forceful push Continue to Article

Boston Celtics
The fact Wizards backup guard Brandon Jennings instigated conflict with an opponent is surprising to no one. Jennings has a reputation for doing that and will gladly admit it. The person he picked on in Game 3, however, was surprising, at least to the Celtics. Jennings got into it with Celtics reserve Terry Rozier, a guy he has a history with. The two traded off fouling each other, then earned double technicals and ejections from Game 3. Continue to Article
