Consider how quickly Manny Machado went from wunderkind of the diamond to baseball bad-boy in just a few years time. Machado has had a few issues in the past — mainly that time in 2014 when he threw his bat toward third base after a couple of brush-back pitches against the Oakland A’s. Once Machado found himself at the center of baseball drama this week, as the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles cranked things up to rap beef-level. Continue to Article

DETROIT (WXYZ) - From Little League to the Major Leagues, baseball demands fair play. But lately that appears to be principle confined to the field. Our national pastime is once again at the center of a national debate in America. Earlier this week, Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles condemned fans in Boston for using the n-word. Now some are crying foul at Comerica Park. “I felt unwanted. I felt humiliated,” says Palesa Matinde, who says she was denied service at Comerica Park. “I felt treated like a second-class citizen." Matinde is a University of Michigan graduate from Zimbabwe. She went to a Tigers’ game last week with her husband. They decided to check out Miller's Pitcher's Pub inside Continue to Article

Baltimore starter Wade Miley?left Friday night's game at Camden Yards with a left wrist contusion after he was struck by line drives off the bats of two consecutive White Sox hitters in the first inning. Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu smoked a liner off Miley's pitching hand. The veteran left-hander was examined by a trainer, insisted he was OK and stayed in the game. Two pitches later, Avisail Garcia ripped a liner that struck Miley in the back of the left leg. He scrambled to his feet, but that was the last of his 12 pitches on Friday night. Miley walked off under his own power and was replaced by Gabriel Ynoa, who retired the side after Abreu and Garcia had reached first base with singles. Continue to Article

Baltimore Orioles closer Zach Britton was not available to pitch Friday night against the Chicago White Sox after having a recurrence of pain in his injured left forearm. Britton underwent an MRI exam later Friday, and manager Buck Showalter said the team is considering the next move for him. Britton was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday after being sidelined since April 18 with a left forearm strain. He pitched a scoreless inning against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, and followed with another scoreless inning Thursday. Brad Brach, who assumed the closer's role while Britton was out, closed the ninth for Baltimore on Friday night, entering with a three-run lead and getting the Continue to Article

Chicago White Sox
BALTIMORE — White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu's line drive hit the left wrist of Orioles left-hander Wade Miley and bounced into right field for a single in the first inning Friday night at Camden Yards. Orioles staff went out to check on Miley and allowed him to stay in the game. Two pitches later, Avisail Garcia knocked another single, this one off Miley's backside — and knocked the starter from the game after three singles and a double play. The Orioles dispatched right-hander Gabriel Ynoa into an unplanned long relief appearance and Ynoa responded with six shutout innings in a 4-2 Sox loss. The Sox had 12 hits but left 10 runners on base against Miley and four Orioles relievers. Sox manager Continue to Article
