For a few weeks now, we’ve been waiting for David Ross’s luck to run out. Would the retired Chicago Cubs catcher let those bad feelings follow him into this week? Maybe it’s because he was dancing a sci-fi salsa for movie theme week (Ross said it “sounds like a bad Mexican meal,” which is true), or because he and partner Lindsay Arnold had more than a little fun during dance prep. Catcher Miguel Montero gave rain-soaked Cubs fans something to cheer about Monday night. Montero, 33, and his wife Vanessa were sworn in as United States citizens Monday. Montero tweeted a photograph of him and his wife posing with certificates of their citizenship and the translated words "I love these two countries" with emoji flags of the United States and Venezuela. Because the Cubs played Sunday night at Boston, Montero said he only got about three hours' sleep before taking the test.  "I was too tired to get nervous," said Montero, who got his U.S. passport after taking the test. Montero said he started to think about applying for U.S. citizenship about eight months ago and began to study Continue to Article

Joe Maddon thought Brett Anderson spent the first month of the 2017 season a little uneasy about his position with the defending world champion Cubs. Most of that, Maddon thought, was due to Anderson pressing in an effort to make sure he didn't let down his new team. As the calendar rolled over to May Monday night (though it didn't feel like it with the temperature at a soggy 49 degrees at first pitch), Anderson is still in search of peace of mind. The veteran left-hander survived for just four outs, getting lit up for seven runs on seven hits and a walk as the Philadelphia Phillies (12-12) cruised to a 10-2 victory over the Cubs (13-12). The Cubs were already behind two hitters into the game Continue to Article

Chicago Cubs
Setting all goats and curses aside, the Cubs have an extremely rich history. It was a bleak time to be a Cubs fan, and the first time in modern baseball history that they were relevant. The Cubs won 96 games that year. Continue to Article

Imagine Joe Maddon and Jon Jay remodeling with bunk beds to create more room for activities and calling each other by nicknames like "Dragon" and "Nighthawk." The two are not staring in "Step Brothers 2" anytime soon, but Maddon has said he would adopt the Cubs veteran outfielder as a sidekick. Or a son. "If I needed a son or a sidekick, I'd go for Jon Jay," Maddon said. When asked where that came from, he laughed and admitted he has "no idea." Maddon even joked he'd look into getting the paperwork filled out. "That'd be cool," Jay said, laughing at the matter.  Jay received a third straight start Monday night against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. He only started seven of the Cubs' first Continue to Article
