WASHINGTON -- Anthony Rendon had 10 RBIs, three home runs and six hits as the Washington Nationals took advantage of Noah Syndergaard's injury and mauled the New York Mets 23-5 on Sunday to set a franchise scoring record. Rendon went a career-best 6 for 6 and scored five times while setting a club mark for RBIs. He became the 13th player in major league history to drive in 10 or more in a game, and first since Garret Anderson did it for the Angels in 2007. Matt Wieters added two homers, a single and two walks as the Nationals salvaged the finale of a three-game series. Adam Lind and Bryce Harper also homered, and Harper scored four runs. Washington finished with a season-high 23 hits and scored Continue to Article

The finale of this weekend's Pittsburgh Pirates-Miami Marlins series won't offer a pitching matchup worthy of a marquee. The Pirates start right-hander Chad Kuhl, a 24-year-old who is 6-6 with a 4.72 ERA in his two-year major league career. The Marlins start right-hander Tom Koehler, a 30-year-old who is very reliable in his mediocrity, posting a career record of 36-49 with a 4.19 ERA. Continue to Article

The push of which Price spoke only turned a 7-1 blowout into a 7-5 loss, but it could definitely give the Reds a boost for the middle game of its three-game series with the Cardinals on Saturday. The Reds rallied for four runs in the eighth against two relievers, even putting the tying run on base before Seung Hwan Oh induced a first-pitch popup from Billy Hamilton to end the rally. When Dovydas Neverauskas - fresh from the airport and wearing cleats and a glove bummed from his new Pittsburgh Pirates teammates - jogged onto the mound at PNC Park on April 24 to clean up what was left a lopsided loss to the Chicago Cubs, the 24-year-old reliever became the first Lithuanian player in Major League Baseball history. Halfway across the world in the middle of the night, Virmidas Neverauskas stared as his laptop as his boy - the tall kid with the No. 66 on his jersey - started firing fastballs that topped out in the upper 90s against the World Series champions. The family odyssey that began in communist Russia, moved across Europe and led to a slow ascent through Pittsburgh's minor league system was complete. Continue to Article
