Charlie Morton liked the way the Houston Astros rallied for their latest win. Morton struck out a career-high 12, George Springer singled home the tying run in his return from a leg injury and the Astros beat Oakland 9-4 to send the Athletics to their fifth straight loss. Khris Davis hit a three-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the third, putting Oakland ahead 4-3 with his ninth home run this season. Continue to Article

Tom Hanks says he's going on an "NFL moratorium" for two years after his hometown Oakland Raiders leave for Las Vegas, but he didn't explain what that entails. The NFL approved the Raiders' plan to move last month. "You cannot take the Silver and Black, put them in an air-conditioned dome in the desert, make them play on artificial turf within a stone's throw of the fountains of Caesar's Palace, and call them the Raiders," Hanks said Monday at a charity event. HOUSTON - Astros fans who also love the Texans will be happy to know J.J. Watt is throwing out the first pitch at the game Saturday night. The first 10,000 fans will also receive an Alex Bregman replica white jersey. The division-leading Astros, who own the second-best record in the American League, host the Oakland A’s for a weekend homestand. The Astros have been one of the hottest teams in the Majors of late, winning 10 of their last 13 games. The game is at 6:10 p.m. and tickets are still available. Watt will return to Minute Maid Park in two weeks for his fifth annual  JJ Watt Charity Classic. © 2017 KHOU-TV Continue to Article

A rather innocuous play in the outfield seemed to go terribly wrong Tuesday night as the Houston Astros took on the Cleveland Indians. In the eighth inning of the Astros’ 4-2 victory, Cleveland’s Yan Gomes dropped a single into shallow right field that caused Houston’s Jose Altuve and Teoscar Hernandez to collide at full speed while trying to make the play. Hernandez was looking up the whole time while running in. Continue to Article

A constant theme during the Phillies' playoff run from 2007-11 was that even when the offense was sputtering, it never felt like they were out of a game. That group of players picked up so many late hits and mounted so many comebacks that even a five-run deficit heading into the final three innings felt like a winnable game. The 2017 Phillies are a much different, much less experienced, much less powerful team, but their late-game offense has been a surprisingly fun development this April. The Phillies used back-to-back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning Sunday to pick up a 5-2 win over the Braves and a series sweep (see Instant Replay). Cesar Hernandez hit a go-ahead, two-run shot off hard-throwing Continue to Article
