Derek Jeter and Jeb Bush will soon be co-owners of the Miami Marlins. The New York Yankees alum and the Texas politician are part of an investment group that has agreed to a sale price of $1.3 billion, according to reports on Tuesday from Bloomberg and from the Miami Herald. While many will say that Jeter and Jeb are overpaying for the Marlins, buyers these days are happy to pay more for a sports team than many say it’s worth. Continue to Article

Two of baseball's top prospects find themselves thrust into the middle of one of the National League's hottest rivalries when the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants continue a four-game series Wednesday night. The Giants debuted Christian Arroyo, considered their shortstop of the future, at third base on Monday in a series-opening, 2-1 win. One day later, the Dodgers countered by promoting Cody Bellinger, projected as the franchise's future at first base, and thrust him immediately into the lineup in left field in a 2-1 win. Clayton Kershaw had no plans of leaving the game, even after taking a ball off the right calf during his first at-bat. The training staff wrapped his leg to decrease the chance of any swelling, and the Dodgers ace pitched on without his best stuff. Kershaw struck out seven over seven innings in another impressive performance in San Francisco's home ballpark, and Los Angeles beat the Giants 2-1 Tuesday night to end a four-game losing streak against its rival. SAN FRANCISCO — Brandon Crawford was always going to miss the final two games of this series to attend the funeral of his sister-in-law. The Giants are now hoping an MRI result shows that Crawford won’t miss any time beyond his three days on bereavement leave.  Crawford pulled up with a right groin strain as he rounded first on a base hit in the eighth. After jogging a bit in the outfield, he was pulled from the game.  “It tightened up,” Crawford said. “I haven’t really felt anything like that before. I’ve never really had anything like this before. It just felt tight. I didn’t feel a pop or anything, and from what I hear, that’s good news.” Crawford’s liner off Kenley Jansen sent Buster Posey Continue to Article

ST. LOUIS -- Chris Coghlan soared headfirst over Yadier Molina to score a run for the slumping Toronto Blue Jays at Busch Stadium on Tuesday night. The Blue Jays third baseman was on first when Kevin Pillar hit a soaring drive off the right-field wall for what proved to be a triple. Stephen Piscotty collected it and made a strong throw that beat Coghlan easily, but with Molina hunched over securing the ball, Coghlan jumped over him headfirst. He flipped when the Cardinals catcher started to stand up, his right arm and right shoulder hitting the plate before he came down and well before Molina had a chance to tag him. Coghlan said the rule that prohibits catchers from blocking home plate went Continue to Article
