Philadelphia Phillies
For the third straight start, Stephen Strasburg got through seven innings, but it took the Nationals ten innings to beat the Phillies. WASHINGTON, DC: Before his second consecutive start against the Philadelphia Phillies in Fridays series opener in Nationals Park, Stephen Strasburg was (1-0) with a 3.21 ERA, 2.02 FIP, three walks (1.93 BB/9) and 11 Ks (7.07 K/9) in 14 innings pitched on the year. It eliminates the mechanical difficulties of being consistent with your arm slot and your arm angle and simplifying the deliveries is kind of the in thing. Continue to Article

Phillies (3-7) vs. Nationals (6-4) 1:05 p.m. on CSN and streaming live on CSNPhilly.com and the NBC Sports app Despite five strong innings from Aaron Nola, the Phillies couldn't nail down a win against the Nationals on Friday evening, losing, 3-2, in extra innings. The Phils send Jeremy Hellickson to the hill Saturday afternoon with hopes to even the series at one apiece while the Nationals toss out Tanner Roark. Here are five things to know for Game 2 of this series. 1. Can Hellickson tame the Nats again? In his last time out, Hellickson had the Nationals' number.  The Phillies' opening day starter took the hill last Sunday and held the Nationals to just one hit through five innings. The helmet actually hit his foot as it fell behind him and he kicked it back up over his own head as he came around third base with Nationals third base coach Bob Henley frantically waving him around to score the winning run in the tenth inning of Fridays series opener with the Philadelphia Phillies in Washington, D.C. The Washington Nationals opened their weekend series in style, defeating the Phillies 3-2 in 10 innings on Friday afternoon. Once again it was Daniel Murphy playing the role of hero. Daniel Murphy (20) celebrates his third career walkoff hit. Continue to Article

Philadelphia Phillies
WASHINGTON -- When Aaron Nola pitched against the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park last week, his team scored 17 runs. An offensive output like that allows a club to sweep a lot of problems under the rug. Nola returned to the mound against that same Nationals team on Friday and this time runs were scarce. With no margin for error, the Phillies suffered a 3-2 loss in 10 innings (see Instant Replay). It was their fourth straight loss as they fell to 3-7. The Nats won it when their lethal mid-order tandem of Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy struck for a single and an RBI double to open the bottom of the 10th inning. Harper finished a first-to-home dash with a headfirst dive across home plate. Continue to Article
