The Chicago Cubs won't play their home opener at Wrigley Field for another four days, but Friday will offer the next-best thing when the Cubs open a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park. Cubs fans have turned Milwaukee's home field into "Wrigley North" over the last few seasons and will likely be out in full force as the team defends its first World Series title in 108 years. After the aptly named Rookie Davis got his first taste of big league life Thursday in a 7-4 win against the Philadelphia Phillies, Amir Garrett makes his major league debut Friday night against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The 25-year old Garrett, a hard-throwing left-hander who was a four-star recruit in basketball and played two seasons at St. John's before switching full time to baseball, won three games in spring training and displayed good control. The carousel began in earnest for Houston Astros utility man Marwin Gonzalez on Tuesday night when he made his first start of the season at first base. After the Astros (3-1) open a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals (0-3) on Friday night at Minute Maid Park, Gonzalez will likely earn another start at a third position, most likely left field.
