The Arizona Coyotes will be missing star defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson when they visit the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night at American Airlines Center. Ekman-Larsson was granted a leave of absence from the Coyotes on Monday after his mother passed away following a lengthy battle with cancer. Ekman-Larsson will miss the Coyotes' final three games. With no playoffs to look forward to, the Dallas Stars are stuck being spoilers. Jason Spezza scored, Kari Lehtonen earned his third shutout of the season and Dallas beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-0 on Saturday night. John Klingberg and Devin Shore added empty-netters and Lehtonen stopped 25 shots in his second shutout in six starts to help the Stars snap a two-game losing streak and deal a serious blow to the Hurricanes' already slim playoff chances. With Minnesota's hold on second place in the Western Conference and home ice for the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs reasonably secure, the identity of the Wild's opponent couldn't be less clear as they begin the season's final week hosting the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday afternoon. The Wild and Avalanche each had a partial say in making that determination this weekend with Colorado hosting St. Louis on Friday night and the Wild, in a potential first-round preview, facing off against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Nashville Predators know there's a chance they might see the Minnesota Wild in the postseason. Filip Forsberg and Kevin Fiala scored 10 seconds apart late in the second period, and Pekka Rinne made 31 saves for his third shutout this season in the Predators' 3-0 win Saturday.
