Coming off one of their most dispiriting losses of the season, the New York Islanders seek to revive their flagging playoff hopes Friday night when they host the last-place New Jersey Devils at Barclays Center. Losers of three straight following a 6-3 defeat Thursday at the hands of the Flyers in Philadelphia, the Islanders (35-29-12) are six points out of the second Eastern Conference wild card, with six games to play and three teams ahead of them in the standings. The Flyers let loose on the Islanders in a wild opening period. Wayne Simmonds got his 30th goal of the season as Philadelphia scored five times in a fight-filled first on the way to a 6-3 victory over New York on Thursday night. The NHL will play its first games in China this fall when the Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks meet in Beijing and Shanghai. The preseason games will take place Sept. 21 in Shanghai and Sept. 23 in Beijing.
