Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets Thread

Orlando Magic
With only 18 games left in the regular season, every game is crucial for the Charlotte Hornets, who sit three games out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets (28-36) had a chance to make up some ground on Wednesday against Miami, but as has been their problem spot of late, the defense let them down in a 108-101 loss to the Heat. Meanwhile, the Hornets' opponent on Friday in Charlotte, the Orlando Magic, are pointing to next year and beyond, but they just might have found their point guard of the future. Continue to Article

Orlando Magic
The New York Knicks spent three quarters on the wrong side of matchups with Orlando, then found a few to their liking in the fourth. Kyle O'Quinn was the spark when New York blew past the Magic in the final 12 minutes en route to a 113-105 victory on Monday night. The Knicks outscored Orlando 28-13 in the period, limiting Orlando to 17.5 percent shooting (3 of 17). Continue to Article

Orlando Magic
Bojan Bogdanovic scored 15 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter and made a career-high eight 3-pointers as the Washington Wizards came back from 17 down to defeat the Orlando Magic 115-114 on Sunday. Bradley Beal led Washington with 32 points, and John Wall had 19 points and 10 assists as the third-place Wizards moved a game ahead of Toronto in the Eastern Conference standings. Otto Porter scored 11 points, and more importantly spotted Bogdanovic in the corner for his final 3 to give the Wizards the lead for good with 48.6 seconds left. Continue to Article

Orlando Magic
Philadelphia 76ers fans experienced yet another gut-punch on Wednesday, when the team announced that Joel Embiid — light of our lives, Internet superhero and, as of this year, honest-to-goodness NBA basketball-playing behemoth — will miss the rest of the season with a tear to the meniscus in his left knee. After missing the first two seasons of his professional career due to a fractured navicular bone in his right foot, Embiid finally got healthy enough to play this season, and looked for all the world like the superstar-in-the-making that Process-server Sam Hinkie expected him to be when he rolled the dice on the injured big man out of Kansas with the No. 3 pick in the 2014 NBA draft. Through 31 games, he averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.1 assists in just 25.4 minutes a night, a level of per-minute production that evoked comparisons to the likes of Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Shaquille O’Neal, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Walt Bellamy and All-NBA marvel Anthony Davis. Orlando Magic
Kristaps Porzingis had 20 points and nine rebounds, and Derrick Rose added 19 points to help the New York Knicks cruise to a 101-90 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night. Facing an Orlando team adjusting to playing with a smaller lineup, the Knicks used their superior size to their advantage all night. Porzingis, who returned from missing two games with an ankle injury, presented matchup problems for the Magic when they attempted to put their big men on him outside and he took the smaller players inside.
