Tampa Bay Lightning
Although the NHL trade market produced no whopping deals this year, just about everybody had their nets in the water all the way up until the deadline Wednesday. Several Stanley Cup contenders caught good players for the postseason grind ahead, while several struggling teams made judicious use of their assets. Standard disclaimer: Nobody really wins or loses on deadline day because the results of their endeavors are revealed in the coming weeks, months and years. Continue to Article

The Philadelphia Flyers and Florida Panthers, a pair of teams battling for a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference standings, will get their first look at a pair of trade deadline acquisitions Thursday night when they fight for a coveted two points at the Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers (29-26-7, 65 points) sit three points behind the Panthers (29-23-10, 68 points) and New York Islanders (29-22-10, 68 points) and all three teams are trying to catch the eighth-seeded Toronto Maple Leafs (28-21-13), who hold the final playoff spot in the East with 69 points. A total of 18 mostly minor deals involving 33 players were consummated before the 3 p.m. ET (2000 GMT) trade window closed with the Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens and Los Angeles Kings among the most active teams on a slow day. The Canadiens, trying to get back on track after midseason swoon, added size and grit by acquiring rugged forwards Steve Ott, Andreas Martinsen and Dwight King. Continue to Article

Two-time Olympic champion right wing Jarome Iginla was sent to the Los Angeles Kings while defenseman Mark Streit was traded twice ahead of Wednesday's National Hockey League transfer deadline. The Kings, one point behind St. Louis for the last Western Conference playoff spot, obtained Iginla from the league-worst Colorado Avalanche for a 2018 NHL draft selection. Continue to Article

The Colorado Avalanche have traded winger Jarome Iginla to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional 2018 fourth-round draft pick, granting the forward his wish of getting dealt to a team with a chance to make the playoffs. The move also reunites Iginla with Darryl Sutter, his former coach and general manager with the Calgary Flames. Iginla is in the final season of a three-year $16 million contract that carries a $5.33 million salary cap hit. Continue to Article
