In the final seconds of Friday night's 5-2 loss to the New York Islanders, Florida Panthers fans were screaming "Fire Rowe" -- a chant that grew louder just before the final horn sounded. Tom Rowe, named general manager at the start of the season, took over as interim coach for the fired Gerard Gallant in November. All Gallant did was win the Atlantic Division last season, leading the Panthers past teams considered more talented and certainly more established such as the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bruins played well but weren't able to get at least one point out of their game in Nashville on Thursday night. Goaltender Tuukka Rask left the game in the first period after taking a Roman Josi shot high. "I'll be good (for Saturday)," Rask said. Continue to Article

Giving Jeff Skinner too much open ice can be dangerous, and the Carolina Hurricanes left wing showed the Buffalo Sabres why on Friday night. Skinner's eighth multipoint game of the season, in which Brock McGinn also scored twice, moved Carolina to within three points of the Philadelphia Flyers for the eighth and last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with two games in hand.
