Just six days after No. 9 Xavier and Northern Iowa faced off against each other, the two teams will go at it again on Saturday at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati. Xavier (5-0) will be trying to prove in the noon matchup that its 67-59 win in the championship game of the Tire Pros Invitational in Orlando, Fla., was no fluke. Just a few games into the season, it's clear 11th-ranked Xavier has some work to do closing out games. The Musketeers nearly let a 16-point second-half lead disappear, but Trevon Bluiett hit some clutch free throws late to help them pull away from Northern Iowa for a 67-59 victory in the Tire Pros Invitational championship game Sunday night. Klint Carlson scored 22 points and ignited a second-half rally that carried Northern Iowa to a 73-67 overtime win over Oklahoma on Friday night in the winner's bracket of the Tire Pros Invitational. Jeremy Morgan scored 17 points, had seven steals and four blocks and Jordan Ashton had 13 for the Panthers (3-0), who rallied from an 18-point second half deficit to win.
