Charles Barkley lets us know. At this point, Charles Barkley’s distaste for the Golden State Warriors’ brand of basketball is well-established. Barkley doubled down on that stance this past summer after the Cleveland Cavaliers knocked off the Dubs in their 2016 Finals rematch, this time dinging Golden State — now featuring “cheater” Kevin Durant — for playing “little girly basketball” in a very sober, serious and restrained debate that took place at a nightclub inside a Lake Tahoe casino against Jerry Rice. Washington
When people talk about the San Antonio Spurs' first quarter of the 2016-17 season, they don't mention the way the Spurs won every game they played on the road, or about the upcoming celebration for the retired Tim Duncan or that they have one of the best basketball players on the planet -- do-everything-and-do-it-well forward Kawhi Leonard -- leading them night in and night out. Instead the talk is about the Spurs' middling play at home, where they've dropped four of their eight contests to the likes of the Clippers, Houston, Utah and, most recently, Orlando. San Antonio has another chance to get rolling at home on Friday when it hosts the Washington at AT&T Center, squaring off with the Wizards for the second time in a week and for the final time this season. Russell Westbrook came into Wednesday night on as hot a run as any player in the NBA, but he opened the Oklahoma City Thunder’s meeting with the Washington Wizards — and his old head coach, Scott Brooks — about as frigid as can be. The do-everything All-Star point guard missed seven of his first eight shots — including four layups and an attempted dunk — and the Wizards capitalized on his sluggish start, taking a 13-point lead after the first quarter. “Just keep going, man,” Westbrook told FOX Sports Oklahoma’s Lesley McCaslin after the game. Australian guard Patty Mills came off the bench to score 23 points for the short-handed San Antonio Spurs in 94-87 victory over the Mavericks in Dallas. The Spurs rallied to remain perfect on the road this season, improving to 11-0 in away games with their second win over Dallas in the past 10 days. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich rested stars Pau Gasol, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker on the second night of back-to-back games. Continue to Article
