Marcus Evans scored on a layup and knocked down 3 of 4 from the free throw line, all in the final minute, as Rice held off Montana State 83-78 on Monday night. Tyler Hall drilled a 3-pointer with 1:14 left in the game to get the Bobcats within two, 77-75, but Evans answered with a layup to make it 79-75. Lorenzo Bonam scored 17 points as Utah eased past Concordia 96-53 on Tuesday evening. The Utes shot 51.4 percent in the first 20 minutes and improved their ball control from the first game with just three first-half turnovers. Lawmakers on Tuesday released the results of a wide-ranging audit of the University of Utah athletic department that was prompted by its cancellation of the 2016 basketball game against rival Brigham Young University. Among the most interesting findings was that Utes coach Larry Krystkowiak had not yet repaid the $80,000 it cost to cancel the game, an expense he promised to personally cover. In canceling the game, Krystkowiak said the teams needed time to cool off after BYU guard Nick Emery was kicked out for throwing a punch during the 2015 game. Continue to Article
