Dayton
Dayton suffered two painful losses Saturday afternoon. Only hours after learning they’ll be without maybe their top big men for at least the next three months, the Flyers fell 61-57 at home against 17th-ranked Saint Mary’s after a furious last-ditch comeback fell just short. Dayton trailed by 14 points with just over three minutes to go before its aggressive defensive pressure began to disrupt the Gaels and tighten the gap. Continue to Article

Dayton
No. 17 Saint Mary's and Dayton are driven by dynamic guards setting the table, which could make for a riveting Saturday afternoon (2 p.m. ET) meeting with two of the nation's leading mid-major programs match up at UD Arena. It's a hostile venue few volunteer to visit because of the frenetic pace and style of play encountered, as coach Archie Miller pointed out recently. "We had a lot of things fall through that prevented us from really moving faster," Miller said of the scheduling oddity that brought the reigning West Coast Conference champion to Ohio. Nebraska
Michael Jacobsen and Tai Webster each scored 10 points and Nebraska rolled over the overmatched University of Mary 70-38 on Tuesday night. Nebraska (2-0) was never challenged by the NCAA Division II school from North Dakota that is Huskers coach Tim Miles' alma mater. Nebraska went up by 10 on Jack McVeigh's 3-pointer less than five minutes into the game and stretched the lead to 30-8 on another of McVeigh's 3 with 5:52 left in the first half. Continue to Article

Dayton experienced euphoria and devastation all in one play Tuesday afternoon when forward Josh Cunningham suffered a potentially serious injury on a game-clinching dunk. With the Flyers leading Alabama by two and the final seconds of the second half melting away, Cunningham went up for a transition dunk, absorbed heavy contact from Alabama’s Ar’Mond Davis and threw down a soaring one-handed slam. Cunningham’s left leg folded underneath him awkwardly when he landed, leaving him writhing in pain on the floor clutching his lower left leg. Continue to Article

Dayton
Saint Mary's coach Randy Bennett wants to get a better look at his bench players, and he might get that opportunity when the 17th-ranked Gaels host Prairie View A&M on Wednesday (10 p.m. ET) in Moraga, Calif. In the Gaels' season-opening 81-63 victory over Nevada, Saint Mary's all-conference guards James Rahon and Emmett Naar played extensively, with Rahon logging 40 minutes and Naar 35. "Tonight I wasn't as trusting with our bench," Bennett said after the game. Continue to Article
