Bill Stanfill, who was voted the nation's top college lineman at Georgia and starred on two Super Bowl-winning teams with the Miami Dolphins, has died. No cause of death was given, but Stanfill has had numerous health problems after retiring from the NFL. After hitting the game-winning field goal at Kentucky over the weekend, Georgia kicker Rodrigo Blankenship caught some light-hearted ribbing from teammates and fans for wearing his helmet during an on-camera interview with SEC Network. Blankenship, a redshirt freshman, took it all in stride. Per UGASports.com, Blankenship said he simply wasn’t thinking when he curiously kept his helmet on following the game-winning 25-yarder, his fourth field goal of the 27-24 win. Continue to Article

Auburn got some good news regarding injury issues as it began preparations for Saturday's outing at Georgia. Coach Gus Malzahn announced that sophomore quarterback Sean White, who came on in the second half last week after not starting against Vanderbilt, will start against the Bulldogs. Running back Kamryn Pettway, who looked to have pulled a muscle late in the 23-16 win over the Commodores, may be cleared to play when the Tigers (7-2, 5-1), ranked No. 9 in the College Football Playoff rankings, and the unranked Bulldogs (5-4, 3-4) mix it up starting at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Sanford Stadium. When searching for a new head football coach, schools have been showing a greater desire to hire an up-and-comer, like Tom Herman or P.J. Fleck, rather than a veteran with a long record of success, such as Les Miles. The average age of the head coaches hired by FBS teams last season was 43.2 years old, the youngest in the past six years. Georgia freshman Jacob Eason is proving he can be trusted in the closing minutes. Coach Kirby Smart said Eason showed impressive poise when he led the Bulldogs to a last-second 27-24 win at Kentucky last week.
