By now you may know that UCF left the rivalry trophy on the field in Storrs on Saturday after beating the Huskies. Cincinnati returned their top rated quarterback and returned to the win column. Gunner Kiel made his first start of the season and led Cincinnati to its first American Athletic Conference win, 31-19 over East Carolina on Saturday night. UCF beat UConn 24-16 in Storrs on Saturday. When Bob Diaco arrived as head coach at UConn back in 2014, he sought out a rival for the Huskies. For some reason, he chose AAC foe UCF and the “rivalry” was dubbed “The Civil ConFLiCT” (FL for Florida, CT for Connecticut). Continue to Article

UCF visits UConn on Saturday for what may or may not be an annual rivalry game. UConn coach Bob Diaco received plenty of ridicule when he created a trophy for the series last year after the Huskies upset the Knights in 2014, handing UCF its only conference loss. UConn won again in Florida, routing UCF 40-13, and celebrated on the field with the trophy, winning what Diaco initially called the Civil Conflict and later revised to the ConnFLiCT (note the capital FL and CT).
