In news that shouldn’t come as a surprise, the Big 12 has reportedly decided not to expand. A press conference is scheduled for 5:30 CT. Back in July, the Big 12 gave commissioner Bob Bowlsby permission to pursue expansion candidates, and the process was reportedly whittled down to 11 candidates — Air Force, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Colorado State, UConn, Houston, Rice, SMU, South Florida and Tulane — and Bowlsby said the league would consider two or even four additional members. Houston freshman defensive tackle Ed Oliver has been disruptive since his collegiate debut against Oklahoma when he had two sacks. Seven games into his career, he's beginning to take over and has 23 tackles in the last two games combined for the 11th-ranked Cougars . No. 13 Houston was coming off of its first loss and the Cougars were close to making it two in a row with Tulsa driving in a tie game late in the fourth quarter on Saturday night. It was then that Houston's defense responded with two huge plays to give the Cougars a 38-31 victory .
