Braeden West rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns, the second on a 66-yard dash, and Southern Methodist pulled away from Liberty for a 29-14 win Saturday. Stephen Calvert found Dante Shells with an 8-yard touchdown pass to get the Flames (1-2) within striking distance, 19-14, with 2:35 left in the third quarter. The Mustangs (2-1) closed with a flourish, driving 57 yards to set up Josh Williams' 27-yard field goal to make it 22-14 with 47 seconds left and Jordan Wyatt put the exclamation point in the win, picking off a Calvert pass with 18 seconds left and returning it 34 yards for a touchdown. Dane Evans threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns to Keevan Lucas in less than three quarters and Tulsa rolled to a 58-21 win over North Carolina A&T on Saturday. Evans and Lucas connected on a 51-yard scoring play late in the first quarter to give the Golden Hurricane a 24-0 lead. After another program-defining win last week, the Aggies will face back-to-back FBS opponents for the first time in school history when they visit Tulsa on Saturday. North Carolina A&T improved to 2-0 last weekend with the program's first-ever win over an FBS team, a wild 39-36 upset of Kent State in four overtimes. The victory enabled the Aggies, who had dropped all three previous meetings with FBS teams by an average of 39.7 points, to jump five spots in the STATS FCS Top 25 to No. 18. Continue to Article
