Maryland couldn't ask for a better scenario to play its first Big Ten game under DJ Durkin. After rolling through their non-conference schedule with three straight wins, the Terrapins spent their bye week getting healthy and correcting the inevitable flaws that come with learning a new system. Though first-year coach DJ Durkin is known for his defensive prowess, Maryland is unbeaten after three games largely on account of its prolific offense. Quarterback Perry Hills has completed 62 percent of his passes, three for touchdowns, and Maryland is only one of two Football Bowl Subdivision teams (also Western Michigan) without a turnover. Heading into Saturday's Big Ten Conference opener at Maryland (3-0), Purdue is last in conference turnover margin at minus-6 and is last in opponents' third-down conversion success, allowing 57.1 percent. A key to being 2-1 is finally having defensive starters Da'Wan Hunte, the team's most experienced cornerback, and defensive end Austin Larkin healthy. Hunte had a team-best eight tackles, including one for loss, and Larkin had a big sack to kill a drive during a game in which the Boilermakers limited the Wolfpack to 33 rushes for 68 yards, including five sacks of quarterback Tyler Stewart.
