California’s Vic Enwere (23) rushed for 110 yards in a win over Texas, but almost had a costly mistake. Cal coach Sonny Dykes has instituted a new team rule, and rightfully so. After Golden Bears running back Vic Enwere dropped the ball just before crossing the goal line for what should have been a 55-yard touchdown Saturday night against Texas, Dykes told his team that they must hand the ball to a referee after scoring. During Monday’s Big 12 teleconference, Texas coach Charlie Strong was asked about his defense and all he could do is sigh. The play of the defense has been big talk around Austin and has prompted Strong to evaluate his assistant coaches during the next couple weeks while the Longhorns have a bye week.
