Bryce Harper, Trea Turner and the Washington Nationals stole this one from Noah Syndergaard. Harper hit two doubles and became the latest player to swipe a base against Syndergaard, helping A.J. Cole post his first major league win as the Nationals beat the New York Mets 4-1 Friday night. Cole post his first major league win as the Washington Nationals beat the New York Mets 4-1 Friday night. Washington won its fourth in a row and increased its NL East bulge over the wild card-contending Mets to 10 1/2 games. Noah Syndergaard may be carrying a heavier load for the Mets down the stretch. It’s long been said that teams can never have enough pitching depth, particularly in the starting rotation. The New York Mets have become living proof of that, as their once and loaded starting rotation might be down to one true superstar in Noah Syndergaard. According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, this development will cost deGrom at least one start. Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom is likely to miss his next scheduled start because of soreness in his right forearm. New York said deGrom had a precautionary MRI earlier in the day and it was negative. The club said there was no structural damage and he will take medication. Continue to Article
