San Francisco Giants
Having scored five or more runs in each of the first five games of their current road trip, you'd think the last thing the Oakland Athletics would need right now is more firepower. While that was happening, Reddick was 2,300 miles away in Nashville, Tenn., going 0-for-5 for the A's Triple-A affiliate. Melvin sat at his desk after Monday's win hoping to get a report that Reddick, who broke his left thumb on May 19, had completed nine innings pain-free. Continue to Article

Rookie Daniel Mengden, with that quirky double-pump delivery and old-school handlebar mustache, thought his first major league win might come sooner than this as well as he had pitched so far. The 23-year-old pitched into the eighth inning for his first major league win Monday night, backed by Marcus Semien's three-run homer and four RBIs, and Oakland beat the San Francisco Giants 8-3 to open the Bay Bridge Series. Semien connected in the decisive second and Jed Lowrie and Khris Davis added RBI doubles against Jeff Samardzija (8-5) in that five-run inning, then Semien added a run-scoring double in the sixth. (Adds later games) June 26 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Sunday's Major League Baseball games: White Sox 5, Blue Jays 2 Chris Sale earned his major league-leading 13th victory as the Chicago White Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays. Sale (13-2) pitched seven scoreless innings before the Blue Jays broke the shutout with a pair of eighth-inning solo homers. The White Sox left-hander won his fourth straight game, allowing two runs on five hits, walking two and striking out seven in an eight-inning effort -- his longest since a 2-1 complete game victory over Houston on May 19. San Francisco Giants
Conor Gillaspie hit a game-ending RBI double with one out in the ninth inning to lift San Francisco past the Philadelphia Phillies 8-7 on Sunday and give manager Bruce Bochy his 800th win with the Giants. Ramiro Pena doubled down the right-field line off Severino Gonzalez (0-1) then scored standing up when Gillaspie lined a 1-1 pitch in the same direction. It was Gillaspie's second career walkoff hit and the seventh by the Giants this season, most in the majors. Continue to Article
