Father's Day can mean different things to different people. The general idea though is to honor or remember a father or father figure who had an immeasurable impact on our lives. To Chicago Cubs superstar Anthony Rizzo, that in part means honoring one of his own. As in, one of his very own teammates, David Ross. No, Ross is not actually Rizzo's father, but he's certainly played that role to many of the Cubs' younger players in a baseball sense. Oh, who are we kidding, he's played that to every one of his teammates, mainly because he's older than all of them. But also because he loves being a mentor. Those relationships are what earned him the nickname "Grandpa Rossy." [ Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Baseball contest now ] It also earned him this. Great team win but highlight of my night was early Father's Day card from my eldest son! @ARizzo44 #PapaBear 🐻 pic.twitter.com/7K9BH9gduA — David Ross (@D_Ross3) June 19, 2016 If something can be heartfelt and tongue-in-cheek all at once, this would be it. It's meant to be a fun gesture on Rizzo's part, but it's all based on respect and admiration for a veteran who has helped lead and helped shaped many of these young Cubs as people. They may have fun with him. They may have fun at his expense. But they all love him. Perhaps even more now after his sixth-inning homer on Saturday proved to be the game-winner in the Cubs 4-3 victory over the Pirates .  Above all though, they'll miss him when he walks away from baseball after this season to do his favorite job in life: Be a real father .  More MLB coverage from Yahoo Sports: - - - - - - - Mark Townsend is a writer for Big League Stew on Yahoo Sports. Myers had three hits and drove in three runs, keying a six-run rally that carried San Diego to a 7-3 victory over Washington on Saturday night. The Padres scored their six runs in the eighth before making an out. Continue to Article

The Detroit Tigers have a new offensive weapon as they complete their four-game series on Sunday with the Kansas City Royals. McGehee, signed to a minor league contract by the Tigers in spring training, provides a big bat off the bench plus insurance at other positions. "If we think we need to give Vic a day for his knee, McGehee can DH, or he could play first and let Miggy (Cabrera) get off his feet and DH for a day. Continue to Article
