San Francisco Giants
The San Francisco Giants will take a four-game lead atop the National League West into their series finale against the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. Giants manager Bruce Bochy responded to Friday's 3-2 loss in the series opener by announcing two significant changes that will impact the look of his team moving forward. With the Giants having scored just seven runs in the first three games of their current homestand, Bochy has decided to flip-flop two of his key hitters, Matt Duffy and Brandon Belt, in the batting order. San Francisco Giants
What takes three men and a ladder to rescue from the protective netting at AT&T Park?  Buster Posey's bat. That's what.  The San Francisco Giants superstar had a rare moment of weakness on Saturday, losing his grip on his bat on a first-inning swing against Scott Kazmir. As a result, Posey's bat went soaring through the air, only to be captured and held about 20 feet up the netting right near the Giants home dugout.   As you can plainly see, it got wedged in there pretty good. The game certainly couldn't continue with a bat just hanging around. That meant the AT&T Park maintenance crew had to spring into action to save the day and save Posey's bat.  Ladder match at AT&T Park. pic.twitter.com/5WbDbUoNAx — Andy McCullough (@McCulloughTimes) June 11, 2016 Job well done, gentlemen. Your efforts were greatly appreciated and perhaps even heroic considering what would follow on Saturday. [ Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Baseball contest now ] After a grueling, back-and-forth game that saw Los Angeles take a one-run lead in the 10th inning, Posey stepped up and delivered the game-winning hit , smashing RBI single back through the middle against Dodgers' closer Kenley Jansen. That wrote a happy ending to what had been a tumultuous day for both Posey and his bat. Buster Posey flings his bat for the second time today. That time, it wasn't an accident. Visibly frustrated after lining out. — Andrew Baggarly (@extrabaggs) June 12, 2016 Ouch. As they say, all's well that ends well. In this case, it makes for a memorable story, all of which can be relived from the perspective of Posey's bat.  Whew... What a day! Time for a rest. See y'all tomorrow! #beatla #sfgiants @sfgiants @busterposey pic.twitter.com/gU09aMkkqk — Buster Posey's Bat (@busterposeysbat) June 12, 2016 Yes, Buster Posey's bat has its own Twitter account now. Joe Panik hit a game-tying single off Los Angeles closer Kenley Jansen with one out in the 10th inning and scored on Buster Posey's RBI single, and the Giants beat the Dodgers 5-4 on Saturday night. Adrian Gonzalez homered leading off the 10th to put the Dodgers up 4-3 before the Giants rallied to win with four consecutive hits off Jansen (2-2).
