The Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies were scheduled to have off days at home Thursday. After their 6-5 loss in 10 innings to the New York Mets on Wednesday night, the Pirates flew to Denver for a Thursday afternoon game with the Rockies. The last two times the New York Yankees completed four-game sweeps of the Los Angeles Angels, they did so dramatically. On July 24, 1994, the Yankees completed a four-game sweep in Anaheim with a four-run ninth, highlighted by Don Mattingly's three-run home run. On July 25, 1993 in New York, the Yankees completed a four-game sweep by rallying from an eight-run deficit and getting a ninth-inning single by Pat Kelly. Continue to Article

Chris Parmelee homered twice in his first start for the Yankees, Carlos Beltran added two more big hits to his huge series and New York's bats broke loose late in a 12-6 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night. Jacoby Ellsbury homered and scored three times, Brett Gardner had three hits and two RBIs, and the Yankees extended their home winning streak against the Angels to eight games.
