Pittsburgh Pirates
There was some good news for the Braves in Julio Teheran's subpar performance against the Marlins. Teheran said that all his grimacing and hopping around on the mound was caused by only a blister on his right foot, instead of a more serious injury. Teheran allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings and Atlanta's hopes for a second sweep of Miami ended with a 7-3 loss to the Marlins on Sunday. Continue to Article

Francisco Liriano mostly cruised through the first three innings, looking to win his fifth straight start against Texas. Then the Pittsburgh lefty gave up two homers to left-handed batters in the same game for the first time in his career - all in a matter of 13 pitches in the fourth inning. Struggling sluggers Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland homered during Texas' four-run frame, and the Rangers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-2 Sunday for their eighth straight series victory at home. Pittsburgh Pirates
While Francisco Liriano hopes to clean up his road issues to get the Pittsburgh Pirates back on track, Martin Perez hopes his home dominance leads to another series win for the Texas Rangers. The Rangers will go for their seventh victory in nine games one day after ending the Pirates' five-game winning streak when they close this interleague series Sunday. Pittsburgh (28-20) came within one game of matching a season-high run with Friday's 9-1 victory, but Texas (28-21) evened the series with Saturday's 5-2 win and ended a four-game skid to the Pirates. John Jaso singled on the second pitch from Yu Darvish in the Japanese right-hander's first start in the majors in almost 22 months. Pittsburgh's leadoff hitter struck out swinging the next two times, first on an 82 mph slider and then an 89 mph cutter. Darvish struck out seven in five strong innings, hitting 98 mph in the first inning and sprinkling in breaking pitches as slow as 70 mph, and the Texas Rangers beat the Pirates 5-2 on Saturday night. Pittsburgh Pirates
Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish won in his first Major League Baseball start after almost 22 months, striking out seven batters in five innings in returning from elbow surgery. The 29-year-old Japanese right-hander threw 51 strikes among his 81 pitches against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing one run on three hits with one walk to earn the decision, departing with his team ahead 4-1 on the way to a 5-2 victory. Darvish underwent "Tommy John" right elbow tendon replacement and reconstruction surgery in March of last year. Continue to Article
