Ross Stripling's first major league win finally came, but it was in one of his lesser outings in seven with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jhoulys Chacin was far better in his Los Angeles Angels debut than he was in five starts with Atlanta, but he settled for a no-decision. Stripling (1-2, 4.26 ERA) gave up four runs and eight hits with three walks in five innings of Friday's 8-4 home win over St. Louis after missing out on victories in far better starts, two of which resulted in one run allowed with at most one hit. Julio Teheran allowed five hits in 7 2/3 crisp innings and the Atlanta Braves gave Brian Snitker his first victory as interim manager with a 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday night. Teheran (1-4) struck out three without a walk to end six weeks of frustration. Tyler Flowers hit a home run to the bushes in center field and finished with three hits for the Braves, who won for just the third time in their last 13 games. Continue to Article

Fredi Gonzalez brought two bottles of wine and knocked on the hotel room door of Atlanta general manager John Coppolella for a late-night bull session. Gonzalez also brought his personal spoiler alert - that he knew he was out as manager of the Braves and had found out not by pink slip, but an automatically generated email. Gonzalez received an email Monday that had been sent from the team's travel agency that informed him his flight for the next day had been booked from Pittsburgh to Atlanta. Continue to Article
