Dae-Ho Lee provided the decisive blow, but only after Seattle's power-hitting first baseman from South Korea shocked everyone by starting the at-bat looking as though he was going to bunt. ''That was not coming from the bench,'' Mariners manager Scott Servais joked. Franklin Gutierrez hit a two-run homer in the first inning, Lee added a three-run shot in the fourth and the Mariners beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-4 on Tuesday night. Continue to Article

Franklin Gutierrez hit a two-run homer in the first inning, Dae-Ho Lee added a three-run shot in the fourth and the Seattle Mariners beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-4 on Tuesday night. He hit a three-run home run, his fifth of the season, in the bottom of the fourth inning off Tampa Bay starter Drew Smyly. There was plenty of interest in Lee over the winter but also some concern about whether the big slugger could hit as well in the major leagues as he did in Japan and Korea and also whether he could keep his weight down. He seems to be off to a good start in both respects and also appears to be a good guy in the clubhouse, too.
