Coming into the season we knew the Baltimore Orioles lineup was going to be loaded with talent and even more so with immense power potential. Little did we know though that rookie and Rule 5 draft pick Joey Rickard would be among its most productive all-around hitters and a key cog in keeping that powerful offense moving. [Elsewhere: Meet the reliever who has more strikeouts than Stephen Strasburg ] Rickard earned his spot on the team with a strong spring. He received some extra playing time early in the regular season when Adam Jones was dealing with a rib cage injury. Now manager Buck Showalter is plugging Rickard in as his primary leadoff man. The Baltimore Orioles are gaining believers with their impressive start, though a series win in the defending world champions' home park would add a little more credibility. Chris Davis broke out of a 3 for 22 funk by going 4 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs and Mark Trumbo drove in four on three hits. Machado finished 2 for 5 with an RBI double to extend his hitting streak to 16 games, one shy of matching Davey Johnson's club record to begin a season set in 1971. Continue to Article
