The game was scoreless until the seventh inning, and runs then came so quickly for the Washington Nationals that Bryce Harper lost count. Harper hit a grand slam, one of four home runs in a seven-run seventh for the Nationals, who beat the Miami Marlins 7-0 Tuesday. Washington Nationals
Dee Gordon couldn’t stop hugging Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria on Tuesday. Loria met with Gordon in the dugout before the Marlins lost 7-0 to the Washington Nationals and floored his second baseman by presenting him with a diamond-studded, silver and gold necklace celebrating Gordon’s batting title and Gold Glove last season. [ Giants fan leaves game in shame after making a huge mistake ] Gordon led the National League in 2015 with a .333 batting average and that number was featured prominently across the front of the pendant along with the team’s logo. The back of the pendant featured an engraving that also made note of Gordon’s first Gold Glove. Gordon had 205 hits in 615 at-bats last season and also stole 58 bases. Gordon is off to a solid start in 2016, hitting .291 going into Tuesday’s game with four extra base hits and four stolen bases. The Marlins already rewarded Gordon with a five-year, $50 million contract in January and Gordon made mention of that fact as he put the necklace on for the first time. [ Noah Syndergaard throws so hard he branded his catcher's chest ] “The contract was enough though,” Gordon said to Loria. Give Loria credit for going above and beyond in celebrating one of the best seasons by an individual in the club’s history. It obviously made quite an impression on Gordon.
