Cleveland Indians
Throughout his brief career, Danny Salazar has proven he can pitch with power. While he's had some hiccups with control early this year, he's learning to be more of a pitcher who has power heading into Wednesday night's game for the Cleveland Indians against the Seattle Mariners. Salazar (2-0, 0.79 ERA) has averaged 9.95 strikeouts per nine innings over his 62 major league starts, including a 12.71 mark in winning his first two outings of 2016 by fanning 16 in 11 1-3 innings. Carlos Carrasco didn't let a sore ankle get in the way of another win Tuesday night. Carrasco (2-0) came up limping after covering first base during the third inning but allowed just a run in 6 1/3 innings to help the Cleveland Indians beat the Seattle Mariners 3-2. Francisco Lindor had three hits, scored a run in the third, drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth and turned in an outstanding defensive play in the fifth. Continue to Article

Just over a week ago, the New York Mets scuffled through the last two games of a series with the Philadelphia Phillies. The offense is now showing signs of life, something that's usually associated with Noah Syndergaard's fastball. The hard-throwing Syndergaard would certainly appreciate some help from the Mets' offense as he goes for another dominant outing Monday night against the Phillies. Continue to Article

Alex Rodriguez, dropped three spots to sixth in the batting order, hit a two-run homer that snapped his hitless skid and sent the New York Yankees past the Seattle Mariners 4-3 on Sunday, ending their four-game losing streak. Masahiro Tanaka topped old pal Hisashi Iwakuma in the first major league pitching matchup of former Japanese teammates, a game that was broadcast live on television back home - at 2 a.m. in Tokyo. Brett Gardner had three hits, including an RBI double, and scored the tiebreaking run on a wild pitch by Iwakuma (0-2) in the fifth inning. Continue to Article

Cleveland Indians
Every outfielder will tell you they dread the possibility of losing a fly ball in the bright shining sun during the day or the stadium lights at night. Unfortunately for Cleveland Indians center fielder Rajai Davis, that possibility became a reality on Sunday afternoon... twice... during the same inning. [Elsewhere: Shelby Miller takes the lead for strangest injury this season ] The double disaster occurred during the second inning of Cleveland's 6-0 loss to the New York Mets. On the first, Curtis Granderson skied a high fly ball to deep left center field that seemed to have a chance to get out or at least hit the wall. Unfortunately for Davis, it did neither. As he shielded his eyes, the baseball landed harmlessly on the warning track about three feet away, allowing Granderson to reach third base. Three batters later, it happened again. This time on Yoenis Cespedes' fly ball to straight away center. Davis did his best to fight the sun's powerful forces, but he was overwhelmed again as it dropped for a run-scoring double.  Rajai Davis is wearing sunglasses, for the record. — Adam Rubin (@AdamRubinESPN) April 17, 2016 Well, at least he was prepared, though nothing can really prepare you for a nightmare like this one.  Making matters even worse for Davis, had he made the first catch, it would have been a 1-2-3 inning for Kluber after he allowed three runs in the first inning. Kluber then made things a little worse for himself by committing a throwing error on Asdrubal Cabrera's bunt single and allowing an RBI double to Michael Conforto. In the end, it all added up to another three-run inning for New York, all of which were earned despite Kluber's mishap.   There's really only one way to sum this one up.  Continue to Article
