New York Yankees
A slump-busting win provided a reminder that the New York Yankees could prove dangerous if they can get enough length out of their starting pitchers. Masahiro Tanaka pitched seven innings and gave up two earned runs while Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller struck out all six batters they faced as New York (5-6) beat Seattle 4-3 on Sunday, ending a four-game losing streak. Four Yankees relievers - Betances, Miller, Johnny Barbato and Chasen Shreve - have made at least five appearances and not allowed an earned run. Continue to Article

The Lone Star State battle for last year's AL West title went down to the final week of the season before Texas edged Houston by two games, setting the tone for a rivalry that's been enhanced by the Astros' resurgence.   Ballboys and ballgirls aren't supposed to draw attention to themselves during baseball games. Their job is to scoop up foul balls and give them to eager fans. But sometimes they can't avoid being noticed, as this Oakland Athletics ballboy so ably demonstrated.  In Sunday's Royals-Athletics game, Christian Colon fouled off a pitch from Chris Bassitt which went sailing toward foul ground in right field. The eagle-eyed ballboy saw it coming from his seat on the sidelines and he stood up, took a few big steps, and then gracefully leapt into the air (on one leg!) with his glove extended. He snatched the ball right out of the air, preventing it from speeding into the crowd. It was a thing of beauty and joy. [ Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Baseball contest now ] This isn't the first time in recent memory that an Athletics' ballboy has made an impressive snag. Last August, this young gentleman went into a fully extended dive to grab a foul ball that was skittering toward the stands. Not only did he get a round of applause from the fans, but the A's bullpen congratulated him as well.  Even Athletics fans are getting in on the action. Maybe there's something in the water in Oakland.  More MLB coverage from Yahoo Sports: The StewPod: A baseball podcast by Yahoo Sports Subscribe via iTunes  or  via RSS feed - - - - - - - Liz Roscher is a writer for Big League Stew on Yahoo Sports.
