After winning their latest game, the Phoenix Suns need at least two more victories over their final three contests to avoid their first 60-loss season since they were an expansion franchise. The Suns will try to earn the first of those Saturday night against the severely depleted New Orleans Pelicans. Phoenix put a dent in Houston's playoff hopes with a 124-115 road victory Thursday. Byron Scott stood near the Lakers bench Friday night, listening as fans in New Orleans heartily chanted for the Los Angeles coach to put Kobe Bryant back in with nearly eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. Scott obliged and the sellout crowd gave Bryant one final vociferous sendoff in the Crescent City, erupting with the loudest cheer of the night. Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points and the Dallas Mavericks overcame an injury to sparkplug J.J. Barea while moving to the brink of another playoff spot with a 103-93 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.
