Vin Scully's ability to weave compelling stories into his broadcasts is one of many reasons he's considered the greatest baseball play-by-play announcer of all-time. At 88 years old and and in his 67th and likely final year calling Dodgers games, there's no doubt Scully can still spin a tale, even when he's encountered with some newfangled internet lingo. [ Sign up for Fantasy Baseball | Play for $40K | Expert rankings | Mock draft ] During Los Angeles' opening day game in San Diego on Monday, Scully was telling the story of Padres outfielder Jon Jay meeting Michael Jordan in a shoe store and, well, let's let the the man himself explain: "... and when he talks about meeting Michael Jordan in the shoe store, he refers to him as the GOAT. And you say: 'Goat? Why is Michael Jordan (a) goat?' 'No no,' he said, 'G-O-A-T: greatest of all time.' You ever heard that? Well, that's what Jon Jay brought to the dance - GOAT." Brilliantly said, Mr. Scully. It's for anecdotes like this one that we'll be intently tuning in to as many Dodgers games that Scully is calling as possible this year to make sure we don't miss a single one before he retires. Scott Kazmir has the gargantuan task of replacing Zack Greinke as the Los Angeles Dodgers' No. 2 starter. If his teammates can provide him even a portion of the support they gave ace Clayton Kershaw in the opener, he could rack up plenty of wins as well. The veteran left-hander will try to do his part to earn a victory in his first NL start Tuesday night against the San Diego Padres. Continue to Article
