Tampa Bay Rays
Jose Bautista finally busted out of a slump at Tropicana Field just in time to face a pitcher who has been extremely tough on him. Bautista went 2 for 4 on Monday in Toronto's second straight 5-3 victory to open this four-game set. Odorizzi went 9-9 with a 3.35 ERA in 28 starts a season ago. Continue to Article

Tampa Bay Rays
Kevin Pillar chased a drive deep into the left-center gap and extended his arm above his head before leaping to make the catch and falling into the wall. The high-scoring Toronto Blue Jays hit three home runs to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-3 on Monday night, but the center fielder's defensive gem - robbing Steve Pearce of an extra-base hit in the eighth inning - was the highlight of the game. Toronto Blue Jays
Blue Jays center fielder Kevin Pillar became a household name in the big leagues last season for his ability to consistently make incredible catches in the outfield, earning comparisons to a number of superheros. Some like Superman, others prefer Spider-Man. Either way, it's certainly high praise. The 2016 season is barely two days old and Pillar is already proving he's not a one-year wonder. In the seventh inning of Toronto's game against Tampa Bay on Monday, he was at it again, laying out after a long run to rob Steven Pearce of extra bases and crashing headfirst into the wall after making the superb grab. For most players that catch would go right to the top of their highlight reel. Pillar's tape of defensive brilliance is so stacked, though, this one might not even crack his top five. Seriously, he's been that good. Led by AL MVP Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Troy Tulowitzki, we know how potent Toronto's lineup is. With Pillar in center, the Blue Jays have to feel pretty good about their defense, too, and it's why they're favorites to repeat as AL East champions.
