Anaheim has had to work for its points in the first four of a five-game trip, but it might be rewarded for all the trouble in the finale before heading back to Southern California for its final four home games. For nearly nine years the Ducks have dominated play in Edmonton, and continuing the trend Monday night inches them closer to clinching home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Saturday's 4-3 overtime win in Ottawa was Anaheim's third overtime game on what's thus far been a 2-1-1 trip with all four games decided by a goal. Continue to Article

Since we're down to the final moments of postseason life for teams in contention, Puck Daddy solemnly begins a daily countdown to annihilation.   The New York Rangers’ win over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday gave them some much-needed breathing room over the Pittsburgh Penguins, but it could be short-lived: The Penguins still have two games in-hand as they sit four points in back of the Rangers. The Bruins, meanwhile, are right back at it on Thursday against the Florida Panthers, sitting three points up on the Detroit Red Wings, who have a game in-hand and visit Montreal. The two teams have one more game against each other, in Detroit on April 7. There's still a chance that the Bruins tumble out of the playoff seedings -- there's a roughly 14-percent chance, actually, that they finish out of the wild card. The Islanders, meanwhile, won a must-win against the lowly Ottawa “Everything Must Go!” Senators, moving four points up on the Philadelphia Flyers in the wild card race and inching one point in back of the Penguins with 10 games to play for each. They face each other on April 2. Here are the current standings. The Death Watch tracks the final Wild Card spot and the teams that are chasing it. Their “tragic number” is the number of points gained by the final wild card team or lost by the team chasing it. All playoff percentages are from Sports Club Stats ; tragic numbers and other figures via the NHL. A team is eliminated from play-offs when their "Tragic Number" hits 0. The Nashville Predators gave center Mike Fisher quite the ceremony for reaching 1,000 games.  Fisher reached the mark on March 3, but the team waited until Monday's game to note his accomplishment. This included a pre-game celebration before Nashville's win over the Los Angeles Kings with his wife, country music star Carrie Underwood, and his parents. [ Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Hockey contest today ] But the biggest moment of Fisher’s 1,000 game party came in the second period when U2 lead singer and international celebrity and humanitarian Bono wished Fisher well on his 1,000 games to the tune of the song “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers. This comes at around the 1:24 mark of the video.  The long video tweeted out by the Preds included several country stars such as Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Michael W. Smith, Vince Gill and the band Rascal Flatts. Bono has an interesting association with the sport of hockey. This goes back to when then Edmonton Oilers forward Gilbert Brule picked up Bono by the side of the road near Vancouver in 2011. Outside of Fisher’s musical friends there were messages from hockey playing pals Shane Doan, Chris Neil, Chris Phillips, Antoine Vermette, Shea Weber and Fisher’s dad.  MORE FROM YAHOO HOCKEY Continue to Article

Since we're down to the final moments of postseason life for teams in contention, Puck Daddy solemnly begins a daily countdown to annihilation. Remember when the Pittsburgh Penguins lost Evgeni Malkin and the Philadelphia Flyers were surging and many felt there was a chance the Pens would tumble down the standings?  Well, expect the unexpected: The Penguins have won all five games without Malkin and have (technically) pulled ahead of the New York Rangers for second place in the Metro Division. The Penguins handed the Washington Capitals one of their worst losses of the season on Sunday, while the Rangers were idle. Here are the current standings. The Death Watch tracks the final Wild Card spot and the teams that are chasing it. Their “tragic number” is the number of points gained by the final wild card team or lost by the team chasing it.
