No. 1 Star: Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings The goaltender held the team together as he made 27 saves in the Kings 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins. With the win, Quick's 37th of the season, LA is the first Western Conference team to clinch a playoff spot.  No. 2 Star: Oliver Bjorkstrand, Columbus Blue Jackets In only his second NHL game, the rookie crossed off two milestones in his career: first goal in the NHL (video below) and first multipoint game. In the Jackets 6-3 win over the New Jersey Devils, he had 2 goals on 6 shots in 15:24 TOI. No. 3 Star: Ryan Miller, Vancouver Canucks The Canucks lost 3-0 to the St. Louis Blues, and if it weren't for Ryan Miller, the score would have been much worse. The netminder made 47 saves against the Blues while his team only put up 19 shots on Brian Elliott.   Honorable Mention: Radko Gudas scored the first and only goal of the game for the Philadelphia Flyers. The Pittsburgh Penguins went on to score four straight to beat the Flyers. Sidney Crosby, Nick Bonino, and Chris Kunitz skated away with 2 points each ... All Sharks goal scorers had 'Joe' in their first name (Ward x2, Thornton, and Pavelski) ... William Nylander's goal and an assist mark the first multipoint game of his young career. Dishonorable Mention: Thomas Vanek earned his first healthy scratch under the John Torchetti regime ... Poor Henrik Lundqvist. According to Kenny Albert , the goaltender earned his first career loss in regulation when making 40-plus saves. Hank was yanked after giving up the fourth San Jose goal on 47 shots ... The Ottawa Senators had the advantage when they were down a man against the Montreal Canadiens. Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Curtis Lazar, and Alex Chiasson each scored short-handed goals and Andrew Hammond stopped all 30 shots for his first shutout of the season in Ottawa's 5-0 victory Saturday night. It was the fourth time in franchise history that the Senators had three short-handed goals in one game, and the first since an 8-2 win at Toronto on April 3, 2008. Continue to Article

The amount of games to make the playoffs are dwindling for both the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens, and the Atlantic Division rivals have failed to generate any consistent momentum for a push ahead of Saturday night's critical game in Ontario's capital. The Senators (33-30-8) were denied a third straight win after losing 3-1 at Buffalo on Friday. Ottawa's power play again sputtered, going 0 for 4 to extend its man-advantage drought to 21 chances over the last eight games. Continue to Article

The long, dark, cold nights are finally over, and the new season is finally here. That’s right —Hockey Wives is back with the second installment of season two. Isn’t it exciting? As far as first episodes go this one is a bit slow. It’s a mid-season premiere so it doesn’t have to introduce the cast members, but at the same time, the audience needs to get reacquainted and it’s not the time for huge bombs. Last time we saw everyone, it was summer and the players and their families were enjoying their downtime. Now we’re approaching the end of the summer and players are readying for the start of the season — and that timing is what makes this episode interesting. In present day, the NHL regular season is nearing its end. Teams have already surprised and disappointed. There are a few weeks remaining, but for the most part storylines have settled. But in this episode we travel back in time, just days before training camps, and are exposed to the optimism, excitement and uncertainly that accompany a new season. Continue to Article

Montreal Canadiens
The Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens have seen their playoff hopes go up in smoke, so now it's evaluation time for their general managers, Tim Murray and Marc Bergevin, respectively. [ Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Hockey contest today ] Both GMs have plenty of decisions to make about their rosters before the 2016-17 season arrives. Who stays? Who goes? What line combos might be tested out for next year?  Meanwhile, Sabres rookie Jack Eichel will look to finish out the final 12 games and remain near the top of the rookie scoring race. He currently trails Artemi Panarin of the Chicago Blackhawks by 14 points and a strong finish could solidify his chances of heading to Vegas in June as one of three Calder Trophy finalists. You can watch Canadiens vs. Sabres here for free via a Yahoo Sports live stream beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Here's the remaining list of Yahoo free NHL live stream games this season.
