Iowa
It's not the only thing being talked about around the Villanova basketball team but it sure takes up a lot of the discussion. The Wildcats have another chance to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The final chance for those seniors is Sunday when the second-seeded Wildcats face seventh-seeded Iowa in the South Regional at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Continue to Article

Iowa’s Anthony Clemmons committed one of basketball’s cardinal sins to end regulation against Temple, but Adam Woodbury was there to pick up his teammate in overtime to move the Hawkeyes into the Round of 32. Temple’s Quenton DeCosey calmly drained three free throws with 2.1 seconds remaining after Clemmons fouled him as he attempted a game-tying trey, forcing overtime. The teams went back and forth in the extra frame, and with the game tied at 70, Woodbury saved the day as time expired with a putback of a Mike Gesell airball, giving Iowa a dramatic 72-70 win. Adam Woodbury with the game-winner at the buzzer! https://t.co/NSux4uwoAH #MarchMadness — NCAA March Madness (@marchmadness) March 18, 2016 Woodbury’s right place, right time game-winner absolved the Hawkeyes of a late collapse and spoiled the Owls’ comeback effort. Iowa held a comfortable lead that grew as large as 10 for most of the second half, but just couldn’t put the game away. The Owls crept closer and closer and finally tied the game with DeCosey’s free throws with 2.1 seconds to go. The Hawkeyes had numerous chances to put the game away, notably with standout guard Peter Jok headed to the line with his team up two. Jok, an 86 percent free-throw shooter, sunk the first, but missed the second. Temple’s Jalen Bond corralled the miss and got the ball to DeCosey, who charged in the other direction and rose up for the game-tying three, only to be fouled on the arm by Clemmons. Once the game reached overtime, Temple looked like it could seize control when it took its first lead since 4:16 left in the first half, but Clemmons responded to his end of regulation gaffe with a big play. The defensive specialist picked the pocket of DeCosey, Temple’s leading scorer, and led the fast break, setting Jok up with a nice pass for an and-one. Jok hit the free throw this time around to put the Hawkeyes back in front, 69-68, with 1:52 to go. Clemmons split free throws on Iowa’s next possession to increase the lead to two, but Temple’s Josh Brown tied it up with a jumper with 54 seconds left, setting the stage for Woodbury’s big shot. But before Woodbury could steal the show, Temple’s Daniel Dingle had his turn at the line, but missed the front end of a one-and-one with 22 seconds on the clock, setting up Iowa’s last possession. Gesell drove right and missed badly, but Woodbury had his fellow senior’s back. W ith the help of a blatant push off, h e corralled the miss and scored the winning basket as time expired. Now the seventh-seeded Hawkeyes move on to the Round of 32 where they will face another Philadelphia team, No. 2 Villanova.  - - - - - - - Sam Cooper is a contributor for the Yahoo Sports blogs. Iowa
The Temple basketball team made its way to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn the same way many fans did: on the subway. How cool is this? Team of the people. #MarchMadness pic.twitter.com/JwtH7sZWop — Temple Men's BBall (@TUMBBHoops) March 18, 2016 The Temple basketball team is no stranger to public transportation. Before its upset over Duke in 2012, head coach Fran Dunphy and his squad rode the Broad Street Line from Temple’s campus in the heart of North Philadelphia to the Wells Fargo Center in South Philly. They did the same thing before upsetting Kansas in 2014. Temple blows out No.10 Kansas after taking the subway to the game like bosses. http://t.co/v3g7GuJEe0 pic.twitter.com/HWdr6wa7wB — SB Nation (@SBNation) December 23, 2014 This time around, the Owls, a No. 10 seed in the South Region, take on No. 7 seed Iowa in an opening round matchup. There’s no word on what mode of transportation the Hawkeyes used to make it to the arena.  - - - - - - - Sam Cooper is a contributor for the Yahoo Sports blogs. Have a tip?
