Rutgers is reaching a new low this season. The Scarlet Knights have lost 17 straight games this season and 32 in a row in Big Ten Conference games dating to last season. The latest was a 97-66 loss to No. 2 Michigan State on Wednesday night, the fifth time they have lost by at least 31 points this season. Continue to Article

Michigan State senior Bryn Forbes is statistically the best 3-point shooter in college basketball this season and now he has a place in the Big Ten Conference record book to prove it. Forbes served as the catalyst in the Spartans’ blowout victory over lowly Rutgers on Wednesday night knocking down a conference record 11 3-point shots with a pure shooting stroke reminiscent of a younger Stephen Curry. ICYMI: Bryn Forbes hit a #B1G single-game record 11 treys in No. 2 @MSU_Basketball 's win at RU. Watch, and enjoy! https://t.co/o1hNfsCSpc — Big Ten Network (@BigTenNetwork) March 3, 2016 [ Yahoo Tourney Pick’em is open. Sign up now and play for $50K ] The 33-point performance was a career-best for Forbes. His previous high was 32 against Oakland earlier this season. It's no surprise that he tore up Rutgers, which came into the game ranked 300th in the nation at defending the 3-point line and is now one loss away from finishing the regular season winless in conference play. Forbes' performance attracted attention on Twitter from fans of assorted NBA teams speculating how he might look wearing their favorite team's uniform next season. It also drew praise from former Michigan State star Magic Johnson and big man Draymond Green, who plays alongside Curry with Golden State. Congratulations to Bryn Forbes who hit a Big Ten Record 11 3-pointers to lead @MSU_Basketball in the 97-66 win over Rutgers! #Spartans — Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) March 3, 2016 Nba basketball minds smart enough to have Bryn Forbes on their radars yet? Or is he "too small" for his position? — Draymond Green (@Money23Green) March 3, 2016 [ Freak Show Podcast: Oklahoma ups/downs, Gard goodness and UNC/Duke ] Forbes already was leading the nation in 3-point field goal percentage prior to Wednesday, having made exactly 50 percent of his attempts this season, but after going 11-for-16 behind the arc against the Scarlet Knights, he is now shooting 51.5 percent from deep this season (103-for-200).   Coming into the week, Forbes was shooting slightly better than Giddy Potts of Middle Tennessee who is making 49.3 percent of his 3-pointers this season. Oklahoma’s player of the year candidate Buddy Hield is third in the nation making 47.6 percent. Forbes came into the week tied for 15th in the nation in total number of made 3-pointers at 92, but he should move up that list after Wednesday’s record-setting outing. - - - - - - - [ Kyle Ringo is the assistant editor of The Dagger on Yahoo Sports. Bryn Forbes scored a career-high 33 points, hitting a Big Ten Conference record 11 3-pointers, and No. 2 Michigan State woke up in the second half to rout Rutgers 97-66 on Wednesday night, handing the Scarlet Knights their 17th straight loss. ''It's something that means a lot, kind of because I put in a lot of work to try to do things like that,'' Forbes said of the record.
