Iowa State
A regular-season Big 12 title has long since fallen out of the picture for Iowa State, but over the weekend the Cyclones started building the framework to finish strong and make a postseason splash. With the re-appearance of some contributors who vanished during a lengthy rut, 17th-ranked Iowa State seeks its first winning streak this month and seventh win in a row over Oklahoma State when it closes its home schedule Monday night. The knock all season on the Cyclones (20-9, 9-7) has been a lack of depth that shone clearly during a 3-5 stretch from Jan. 30-Feb. 22, thwarting their Big 12 title hopes while Kansas went on to secure its 12th straight. Oklahoma State
Jaysean Paige scored 17 points and Devin Williams recorded his 13th double-double of the season with 13 points and 15 rebounds to lead No. 14 West Virginia to a 70-56 victory over Oklahoma State on Saturday night. It was the second straight win for West Virginia (22-7, 11-5 Big 12), as coach Bob Huggins moved ahead of Lefty Driesell into sole possession of 10th place on the NCAA Division I all-time wins list with 787. Joe Burton scored a career-high 16 points to lead Oklahoma State (12-17, 3-13), which lost its fourth straight contest and seventh of its last eight. Continue to Article

Iowa State
Iowa State coach Steve Prohm already is thinking long-term about his team's seed in the NCAA Tournament. Kansas State could easily be overlooked with its 1-10 record against ranked opponents, a mark Iowa State will try to add to by winning a fifth straight home game in the series Saturday. The Cyclones (19-9, 8-7) made a statement for a high seed in the NCAA Tournament with a home win over then-No. 4 Kansas on Jan. 25, but they've gone 3-5 since despite shooting 53.2 percent over the last five. Oklahoma State
A deep bench, though, has the Mountaineers looking to make a run in the NCAA Tournament. The 14th-ranked Mountaineers catch a bit of a break in their grueling conference schedule when they visit struggling Oklahoma State on Saturday night. West Virginia (21-7, 10-5) was in first place for one stretch this season, and with three games left is tied for second with Oklahoma - two behind Kansas. Continue to Article

Iowa State
Slaying the sportsbook is a monstrous task. Some days bettors take up residence in a penthouse suite. Other times, they curl up in the nearest ditch, shirtless and toothless. In an attempt to avoid complete destitution, I will post my picks, whether profitable or penniless, through the NCAA tourney. Check out Monday's selections below:  Iowa St. (19-8, 12-11 ATS) at West Virginia (20-7, 14-10)  – WVU should be nicknamed the Platypuses. Its nonstop press and dogged approach to rebounding makes it truly unique. Bob Huggins' bunch ranks No. 1 nationally in offensive rebounding percentage and No. 2 in turnover percentage defense. Though it's dropped three of four, Jerry West U should bounce back with authority Monday night.  Iowa St.'s formula is attack, attack, attack. Floor general Monte Morris pumps the pistons for the Cyclones. His fleet feet, dribble penetration and scoring ability opens up the offense. As a result, Georges Niang exploits generous one-on-one matchups, Jameel McKay slams home exclamation points and Matt Thomas and Abdel Nader swish moneyballs from downtown. Collectively, the Cyclones net 1.208 points per possession.  Jaysean Paige and Devin Williams brutalized Iowa St. in the first matchup at Ames, an 81-76 win for WVU. In that game, the Cyclones committed a season-high 16 turnovers and allowed 17 offensive rebounds. if similar mistakes are made, the Mountaineers cruise to a home cover.  Prediction: West Virginia (-5) 87 Iowa St. 78 Continue to Article
