Coming off a bad weekend, the Philadelphia Flyers got back on track with a big game from its special teams and a huge third period against the usually stingy New Jersey Devils. Wayne Simmonds and Nick Cousins scored 50 seconds apart in a four-goal third period and the Flyers won for only the second time in seven games with a 6-3 victory over New Jersey Tuesday, snapping the Devils' three-game winning streak. Capitals 3, Kings 1 Evgeny Kuznetsov scored the game-winner with 2:02 left, Philipp Grubauer made 39 saves and the Washington Capitals defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 on Tuesday night. Andrew MacDonald of the Philadelphia Flyers was called for slashing midway through the first period Tuesday night against the New Jersey Devils. It was a good call and one that should have given the Devils a power play. The player he slashed, however, did his part in making things 4-on-4 for the next two minutes with an Oscar-worthy embellishment. Officials didn’t miss Joseph Blandisi overselling the call and made him sit for two minutes. No doubt a slash to the back of the leg stings a bit, but Blandisi doesn’t even Superman fly in the direction you’d expect him to considering the angle of MacDonald’s hack. Blandisi admitted he should have reacted differently on the slash.
