Jaylen Brown scored 14 of his 23 points in the second half and California held on in the final seconds to beat Washington 78-75 on Thursday night for just its second road win of the season. Brown scored six straight points for the Golden Bears midway through the second half as California (18-8, 8-5 Pac-12) picked up its first road victory since winning at Wyoming in overtime on Dec. 5. California led by 10 points with 2:39 left, but saw Washington pull within one with six seconds left on Andrew Andrews' 3-pointer. Continue to Article

Slaying the sportsbook is a monstrous task. Some days bettors take up residence in a penthouse suite. Other times, they curl up in the nearest ditch, shirtless and toothless. In an attempt to avoid complete destitution, I will post my picks, whether profitable or penniless, through the NCAA tourney. Check out Thursday's selections below:  California (17-8, 13-12 ATS) at Washington (15-10, 14-9)  – Fee, fi, fo, fum, the Cal Bears are no longer bums. The Pac-12's sleeping giant is starting to click. Stat sheet stuffer Tyrone Wallace is healthy once again and regularly contributing double-figures. Meanwhile Jabari Bird is finally delivering on his potential. In Cal's past three wins, he totaled 60 points, much of that from behind the arc, and reeled in 14 rebounds. His improved efficiency matched with the production of future NBA studs Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb and the trey bombs dropped by Jordan Matthews are reasons why the Bears are climbing. Equally dynamite defensively (0.955 pts/poss allowed last three), they post several problems for a young, often disorganized Washington team.  The Huskies, firmly in the field just a couple weeks ago, are now in the doghouse. Turnovers and stupid fouls are primarily to blame. Blossoming Cal, which has the characteristics needed to keep up with Lorenzo Romar's uptempo pace, is not what the doctor ordered. Though the visiting team has suffered on the road, I consider the small spread a gift.  Prediction: California 84 Washington 79 Continue to Article
