Ohio State
The freshmen on the Maryland roster had no idea what it would mean to get a victory at Ohio State. Senior forward Jake Layman not only told them, but showed the way when the No. 8 Terrapins beat the Buckeyes 66-61 on Sunday to ease the memory of painful losses in Columbus. Layman had 16 points, including the final six of the first half to give the Terrapins a 37-31 lead, and added 10 rebounds. Continue to Article

Michigan State wants to get into its halfcourt sets as fast as possible, often inbounding the ball quickly following an opponents' basket or throwing a long outlet pass after grabbing a rebound. It certainly wouldn't be a surprise if Michigan State puts a big number on the scoreboard Sunday when it hosts a Rutgers team allowing the most points per game in the Big Ten. P.J. Thompson scored 10 of his 12 points in the final seven minutes Thursday night, helping No. 22 Purdue pull away from Ohio State 75-64. A.J. Hammons added 16 points as the Boilermakers (17-3, 5-2 Big Ten) won their third straight. Ohio State (12-8, 4-3) was led by Jae'Sean Tate, who had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Continue to Article

Northwestern
If Big Ten play has leveled Purdue's season, the effect it's had on Rutgers' second campaign in the conference has been a flatlining. The 24th-ranked Boilermakers head to New Jersey on Monday night to begin a span of three of four on the road, but there's been no such thing as home-court advantage with the Scarlet Knights for more than a year in the league. Purdue (15-3, 3-2) has thus far traded wins and losses in the conference and is 4-3 overall dating to a loss against Butler on Dec. 19. Continue to Article
