Clemson
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Jaron Blossomgame had 22 points and 13 rebounds to help Clemson beat Wake Forest 76-62 on Tuesday night. Jordan Roper scored all 16 of his points after halftime for the Tigers (14-8, 7-3 Atlantic Coast Conference), who took control in the second half to erase an eight-point halftime deficit and gradually pull away in the final 9 1/2 minutes for a league road win. The Tigers shot 55 percent and made 21 of 23 free throws en route to scoring 56 second-half points, showing far more energy and a greater attacking mindset. Continue to Article

Virginia Tech
Sheldon Jeter scored a career-high 23 points in his first start of the season and Pittsburgh pulled away from Virginia Tech in the second half of a 90-71 victory on Sunday night. Michael Young overcame a sluggish start to finish with 13 points and seven rebounds for the Panthers (17-4, 6-3 ACC), who bounced back from a lopsided loss at Clemson to hand the Hokies their fourth straight defeat. Pitt shot 53 percent (36 of 68) from the field and converted 20 Virginia Tech turnovers into 33 points the other way. Continue to Article

The best performance of Jaylen Johnson's career included a jaw-dropping dunk, a frightening fall and a hilariously off-target free throw. With just over two minutes left in Louisville's 91-83 victory at Virginia Tech on Thursday night, Johnson dove for a loose ball, crashed into Hokies forward Kerry Blackshear Jr. and bent his right arm back at an awkward angle. The way Johnson clutched his arm as he writhed on the ground in pain, Louisville coach Rick Pitino feared he may have broken it. "He had a miraculous recovery," Pitino told reporters after the game "I think he was just trying to scare the [expletive] out of me." Indeed a mere 34 seconds later, Johnson returned to the game with a flourish, catching a long inbound pass from Damion Lee, throwing down a one-handed breakaway dunk with his injured right arm and drawing a foul in the process. The arm didn't seem to be bothering him on the dunk, but the free throw was a different story. I keep watching video of the Jaylen Johnson free throw & I can only think that's some kind of special effects trick: pic.twitter.com/vitd1fQSLD — Joe Sonka (@joesonka) January 28, 2016 Why did Johnson leave his free throw three feet short? It's hard to say for certain since reporters in Louisville didn't ask him about it after the game. On one hand, the sophomore forward has only made 11 of 26 free throws during his college career. On the other hand, it's difficult to believe the fall didn't have something to do with him missing so badly the crowd collectively gasped. Johnson grimaced before attempting the free throw, shook his right arm afterward and wore an ice pack on his forearm after the game. The errant free throw shouldn't detract too much from an otherwise excellent performance off the bench from Johnson. He tallied a career highs of 11 points and nine rebounds and also delivered the game's most memorable dunk, catching a lob pass from Quentin Snider, cocking his right arm back and throwing down a powerful one-handed alley-oop slam. - - - - - - - Jeff Eisenberg is the editor of The Dagger on Yahoo Sports. Virginia Tech
Brice Johnson and North Carolina are hardly worried about moving back into the top spot in The Associated Press poll. Johnson scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds Sunday, leading the No. 2 Tar Heels over Virginia Tech 75-70 for its 12th straight victory. With No. 1 Oklahoma losing to 19th-ranked Iowa State this week, North Carolina (18-2, 7-0 ACC) could find itself back atop the poll Monday, a spot it held at the beginning of the season but quickly lost. In what's been a roller-coaster season for Syracuse, an alteration to the schedule feels like par for the course. The resurgent Orange will fly out Sunday morning for that night's game at No. 13 Virginia, pushed back one day by the blizzard that's rocked the East Coast. Adjusting on the fly has been nothing new for Syracuse, which went a month without Jim Boeheim when the NCAA moved up the Hall of Fame coach's nine-game suspension for multiple program infractions two days before a Dec. 5 game at Georgetown.
