Portland Trail Blazers
The Minnesota Timberwolves' headache is intensifying, and Portland likely isn't the place to bring the swelling down - especially the way the Trail Blazers are playing lately. The Blazers seek their first four-game winning streak since March and look to continue their home dominance over the sinking Timberwolves on Sunday night. Portland (22-26) is enjoying its best stretch of the season with seven wins in nine games, and things figure to continue trending upward with eight of the next 10 coming at the Moda Center. The Utah Jazz had Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert in the starting lineup together Friday night for the first time since Nov. 30. Rodney Hood scored 22 points, Favors had 20 in his first start since returning from injury and the Jazz beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 103-90 on Friday night. ''I had a month off with my injury, so I had a little energy,'' Favors said. Continue to Article

Rodney Hood scored 22 points, Derrick Favors had 20 in his return to the starting lineup and the Utah Jazz beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 103-90 on Friday night. The Jazz have won consecutive games for the first time in nearly three weeks. The Timberwolves kept it tight until late in the third quarter, when the Jazz closed on a 14-0 run that started with Favors' put-back dunk and ended with Trey Burke's 3-pointer. Continue to Article

Minnesota Timberwolves
Just about every year, when we get to midseason, NBA writers, pundits, coaches and assorted other league watchers find ourselves confronted by the reality that someone — maybe one player, maybe multiple players — coming off a brilliant start to the season has been aced out for a starting spot in the NBA All-Star Game by a player who might not have performed quite as well, but who has a larger base of supporters able to stuff the ballot box and tilt the totals. And after the outrage and chatter about which players got the short end of the stick, nothing much happens. Yes, Draymond deserves to start the All-Star Game. No, “deserve” has nothing to do with All-Star starts. Yes, we’ll do this again next year. — Dan Devine (@YourManDevine) January 22, 2016 If you’re wondering why the fan vote thing won’t get changed, it’s because of all the loud talking about snubs. — Dan Devine (@YourManDevine) January 22, 2016 [ Follow Dunks Don't Lie on Tumblr:  The best slams from all of basketball] It appears, though, that this time was a bit too cynical. According to Sam Amick of USA TODAY , NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has heard enough grumbling about the fans getting it wrong — from former players , from current players , from current players' moms , and more — to convince him to reconsider the way the league figures out who starts the annual exhibition: Silver, who was a speaker at the Total Health Forum in which the NBA partnered with Kaiser Permanente to discuss the importance of fitness and diet, said afterward that the evolution of social media has affected fan voting enough that the league will reevaluate the current system. “On (fan) balloting, it’s something we’ll continue to look at,” Silver said. ”We love the fact that fans have input into who the All-Stars are. As social media changes the world and is disruptive, it’s been mildly disruptive to our balloting systems as well. I know that’s something we’ll take a fresh look.” Continue to Article

Klay Thompson outshone teammate Steph Curry as the Golden State Warriors avenged last month's loss to the Dallas Mavericks with an emphatic 127-107 victory. Thompson on Wednesday poured on 45 points and five rebounds in a superb display as the Warriors romped home against one of only four teams to defeat them this season. The Mavericks had beaten a Curry-less Warriors line-up in Dallas last month, winning 114-91 in a rare off night for the reigning NBA Champions. Continue to Article
